Handsomely illustrated wqith 16 full page plates from block engravings, 7 in color. Frontis tissue guarded. Soundly bound and clean; gift inscription to front flyleaf, undated. Mild furring of cloth at spine ends and light rub at tips. Just mild shelf/handling soil to boards. One plate mid book had lossened and is I alittle furred at the front edge; we have reseated the plate. The poetry is often in vernacular, sometimes in that of a young child, sometimes in an approximation of Americanized german and some southern, African-American styled vernaculars.
