The mytilid bivalve Fungiacava eilatensis Goreau, Goreau, Neumann and Yonge, 1968, previously mistakenly referred to as F. eilatensis Soot-Ryen, 1969, is reported for the first time from Indonesia. It lives as an obligate endosymbiont of mushroom corals, particularly Fungia spp., reef-dwelling corals restricted to the tropical Indo-Pacific. Bivalve species of the mytilid genus Lithophaga , including a new one, are recorded from Indonesian mushroom corals (Scleractinia, Fungiidae). True associations with live hosts include L. laevigata, L. lessepsiana, L. lima, L. punctata n. sp., and L. simplex, while specimens of L. malaccana and L. mucronata have been found in bore holes in encrusted or dead parts of infested corals. Paragrantia waguensis Hôzawa is reported from coastal reefs of the island of Okinawa. This rare species was previously known only from Central Japan, Mie Prefecture. It has peculiar apopylar tetractine spicules, so far unique among Calcarea. We present in situ images of the species and a full description including SEM images of skeletal structure and spicule complement. A new species of ovulid gastropod is described from Bali as Pedicularia vanderlandi spec. nov. It was predominantly found in shallow water on the stylasterid hydrocoral Distichopora vervoorti Cairns & Hoeksema, 1998. The snails are compared with type specimens of congeneric taxa and with material of Pedicularia pacifica Pease, 1865, which was found in shallow water on an unidentified Stylaster. Plakobranchus papua Meyers-Muñoz & van der Velde, sp. n. from West Papua (Papua Barat province, Indonesia), is described based on its external morphology, colour pattern, internal anatomy, radula and reproductive system. In a molecular phylogenetic study specimens of this new species were compared with those of ten candidate taxa under the name Plakobranchus ocellatus van Hasselt, 1824. DNA analyses of COI mtDNA showed a clear distinction between P. papua sp. n. and "P. ocellatus". Plakobranchus papua, sp. n. also differed from all taxa that have been synonymised with P. ocellatus. The genus is in dire need of taxonomic revision, preferably based on an integrative analysis involving morphology and DNA of all known Plakobranchus varieties. Paleontological aspects of Cliona celata from the Dutch Delta Region were investigated. This tunneling sponge occurs abundantly in limestone boulders and in shells of Ostrea edulis, Crassostrea gigas and Crepidula fornicata. Ostial and oscular papillae protrude from the substratum surface through perforations. All found spicules are tylostyles. The length of the tylostyles prepared from ostial papillae is positively correlated with the diameter of the perforations which contain these papillae. The tylostyle diameter is not correlated with the perforation size. Reproduction apparently is mainly asexual. Excavation patterns in the substrata are described. Mathematical models of perforation-rates and -patterns are applied to describe the relative age of sponge parts in oyster-shells. Interactions of sponge tunneling with borings of 2 polychaete worms, Polydora ciliata and P. hoplura, are studied. In the Dutch Delta Region only the .alpha- and beta-stage of Cliona celata are found. The Phyllidiidae (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia, Nudibranchia) is a family of colourful nudibranchs found on Indo-Pacific coral reefs. Despite the abundant and widespread occurrence of many species, their phylogenetic relationships are not well known. The present study is the first contribution to fill the gap in our knowledge on their phylogeny by combining morphological and molecular data. For that purpose 99 specimens belonging to 16 species were collected at two localities in Indonesia. They were photographed and used to make a phylogeny reconstruction based on newly obtained cytochrome oxidase subunit (COI) sequences as well as sequence data from GenBank. All mitochondrial 16S sequence data available from GenBank were used in a separate phylogeny reconstruction to obtain information for species we did not collect. COI data allowed the distinction of the genera and species, whereas the 16S data gave a mixed result with respect to the genera Phyllidia and Phyllidiella. Specimens which could be ascribed to species level based on their external morphology and colour patterns showed low variation in COI sequences, but there were two exceptions: three specimens identified as Phyllidia cf. babai represent two to three different species, while Phyllidiella pustulosa showed highly supported subclades. The barcoding marker COI also confirms that the species boundaries in morphologically highly variable species such as Phyllidia elegans, P. varicosa, and Phyllidiopsis krempfi, are correct as presently understood. In the COI as well as the 16S cladogram Phyllidiopsis cardinalis was located separately from all other Phyllidiidae, whereas Phyllidiopsis fissuratus was positioned alone from the Phyllidiella species by COI data only.
