Karl August Hindrey (1875-1947) one of the most restive and sharp tongued authors in Estonia literature, standalone writer. He studied art and first of all became knows as a caricaturist. Writing career started with children's books, but became knows mostly as feuilletonist and literary critic under the pen name Hoia Ronk. In 1930s he grew into the most peculiar prosaist, and renowned novelist. Current book is a collection of literary caricatures by Hoia Ronk, where the major cultural figures of his time have appeared. Among objects of ridicule were: writers Gustav Suits, Bernhard Linde, Mait Metsanurk (real name Eduard Hubel), August Gailit, Friedebert Tuglas, Eduard Wilde; politicians Jaan Tõnisson, Konstantin Päts; artists Jaan Kort, Leenart Helisalu, etc. The book is outstanding with its caricatures (around 100) created by author himself for each feuilleton, which drawing style shows Art Nouveau school influences. Great example of Estonian avant-garde cover design created by Peet Aren (1889-1970), famous painter, graphic artist, painter of stage decorations and illustrator of books. Early art works expressed the national romantic and stylising manner of the "Mir Iskusstva", later he turned to Expressionism and Art Deco.
