Paperback. Condizione: New. This book covers new ground in its focus on the Anglican Church congresses 1861-1938 as a public space in which the views of notable women were widely disseminated. It celebrates the contribution made by women to public life and discourse on womanhood as platform speakers, and commemorates the presence of the large numbers of women who joined congresses as audience members. Original research draws on extensive primary sources from official records, diaries and the press to capture women's views and voices and to evoke congress as a communicative social space and a window into topical affairs. Women and the Anglican Church Congress 1861-1938 examines the roles of women in the Church and reflects on how women with a sense of vocation negotiated contemporary attitudes to their positions and spirituality. The book also explores how women's secular aspirations towards citizenship in the context of poverty, work, temperance, eugenics, class and suffrage played out at congress.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. A year shaped by cosmic harmony. A wisdom that heals body and soul. A divine fire that brings creation to life.365 Days with Hildegard of Bingen: Cosmic Harmony, Healing Wisdom, and the Fire of Divine Life invites the reader into the extraordinary inner world of Hildegard of Bingen-visionary mystic, composer, healer, and one of the most original spiritual minds of the Middle Ages.Hildegard did not separate heaven from earth, prayer from medicine, or the soul from the body. She perceived creation as a living, luminous whole-charged with divine vitality, ordered by harmony, and sustained by what she called viriditas: the greening power of God present in nature and in the human heart. This devotional journey follows Hildegard's integrated vision of life. Through daily reflections grounded in her theology, natural philosophy, and spiritual writings, the reader is guided into a spirituality that heals rather than escapes, that listens to the body as well as the soul, and that recognizes divine fire not as destruction, but as life-giving warmth. In this book you will find: Daily meditations rooted in Hildegard's visions, writings, and spiritual cosmologyA holistic spirituality uniting prayer, creation, health, and inner balanceReflections on healing, vitality, and the greening power of divine lifeA contemplative companion for readers seeking depth, beauty, and embodied faithThis book is for readers drawn to mysticism grounded in the natural world, for those seeking a spirituality that honors both the body and the soul, and for anyone longing to rediscover creation as radiant with meaning, harmony, and living fire.About the Author365 Days Press in collaboration with Catherine Anne HollowayCatherine Anne Holloway is a writer and independent researcher devoted to medieval Christian mysticism, embodied spirituality, and the lived theology of the monastic tradition. Her work centers on figures whose spiritual insight emerges from attentiveness to creation, the human body, and the ordinary rhythms of daily life.Through her collaboration with 365 Days Press, she seeks to create a devotional companion that honors the depth and complexity of the inner life, offering steady orientation rather than instant resolution. Her writing reflects a conviction that authentic spirituality does not flee the world, but learns to dwell within it with clarity, reverence, and care. This item is printed on demand. Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - You are not doing this wrong. You are frightened and you do not know what to say and you are trying - and that trying is already the most important thing. When Someone You Love Is Dying is the honest, specific, practical guide that most families wish someone had given them at the beginning of this experience. Not platitudes. Not false comfort. The specific information about what dying actually looks like, what dying people actually need, what to say and what not to say, how to be present when presence feels impossible, and how to survive the grief that follows.Across 18 chapters and 4 parts, you will find what the dying process actually looks like physically - so you can be present rather than panicked. What the five conversations that matter most at the end of life are, and how to have them. Why silence is not failure and presence is not absence. How to advocate for adequate pain management. What the final hours actually look like. What grief actually looks like - not the stage model, but the real experience. And what you will carry from having stayed. This book will not make it easy. Nothing makes it easy. It will make it less frightening, less lonely, and less likely that you will carry the specific regret of words left unsaid and presence withheld out of fear of doing it wrong. You are not doing it wrong. This book will help you do it a little better.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Disability interactions (DIX) is a new approach to combining cross-disciplinary methods and theories from Human Computer Interaction (HCI), disability studies, assistive technology, and social development to co-create new technologies, experiences, and ways of working with disabled people. DIX focuses on the interactions people have with their technologies and the interactions which result because of technology use. A central theme of the approach is to tackle complex issues where disability problems are part of a system that does not have a simple solution. Therefore, DIX pushes researchers and practitioners to take a challenge-based approach, which enables both applied and basic research to happen alongside one another. DIX complements other frameworks and approaches that have been developed within HCI research and beyond. Traditional accessibility approaches are likely to focus on specific aspects of technology design and use without considering how features of large-scale assistivetechnology systems might influence the experiences of people with disabilities. DIX aims to embrace complexity from the start, to better translate the work of accessibility and assistive technology research into the real world. DIX also has a stronger focus on user-centered and participatory approaches across the whole value chain of technology, ensuring we design with the full system of technology in mind (from conceptualization and development to large-scale distribution and access). DIX also helps to acknowledge that solutions and approaches are often non-binary and that technologies and interactions that deliver value to disabled people in one situation can become a hindrance in a different context. Therefore, it offers a more nuanced guide to designing within the disability space, which expands the more traditional problem-solving approaches to designing for accessibility. This book explores why such a novel approach is needed and gives case studies of applications highlighting how different areas of focus-from education to health to work to global development-can benefit from applying a DIX perspective. We conclude with some lessons learned and a look ahead to the next 60 years of DIX.…
