Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fair. 1st Edition. Harper & Brothers, New York. 1936. 363 pages. First edition, second printing, or first printing of the second edition. Note: This title was first published in 1935, and a second printing was published in 1936 using the same plates, same preface, and n…o additional information added or subtracted. The copyright page notates this printing as the second edition, when in fact it is a second printing, of the first edition; for whatever that is worth. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Green burlap-like cloth panels are bright and clean with a touch of sunning along edges. Internal pastedowns on panels show foxing. A vintage, previous owner's name neatly written in cursive, on front endpaper, rear pastedown, and title page margin. The super-rare DJ is present, with $3.00 price intact on flap. DJ shows light soiling, chips along edges and folds, with an open chip on the bottom half of spine. These scarce DJs just don't exist, so they remain desirable in any condition. Of the author, Frank Knight, he spent most of his career at the University of Chicago, where he became one of the founders of the Chicago School. Nobel laureates Milton Friedman, George Stigler and James M. Buchanan were his students; two of which, Milton Friedman and Stigler wrote the preface for this book. Knight has been recognized as one of the major figures in preserving and promoting classical liberal thought in the twentieth century. Rare in DJ.
