Octavo, original quarter linen spine, original boards, original printed paper label on spine now age darkened and rubbed, spine faded,chipped at ends, and with clean tear across lower portion, joints cracking, name on end-paper, light foxing. Wholly uncut and with the leaf of ads at end, and a better copy than would seem of this fragile book. The Cambridge History of English Literature remarks of this charming work: "It may be thought to need no praise after Lamb's; yet it may not be impertinent, and it is certainly not rash, to pronounce it, after nearly a hundred years, the most charming poem of some size and pretension which has missed its due meed of general appreciation during the interval."
