It was founded in 1901, by a group of ladies who were invited to the Women's College, Sydney University to discuss the founding of a club for women: for meetings, promoting the interests of women, and to provide tenancy for women visiting Sydney. The author read every minute book over 50 years, taking notes as she read. The club initially rented rooms at Rowe Street and Challis House, 71 King Street. From 1925, they had their own building, Beaumont House, at 167 Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Much discussion of financial problems and society during the Great Depression and World War 2. (Loosely inserted: A nomination form for election as a member. No date, but 1964.).
