From the publisher: "Examines the life and work of children's author and illustrator Leo Politi, and includes depictions of his art and photographs from his past. Ann Stalcup, fan and friend of Leo's for twenty years, chronicles the life and career of a man who lived to create art. Over fifty of Leo's pieces - from massive mural to delicate sketch - enhance the story of his long and fruitful life." The intended audience seems to be children, who may be unfamiliar with Politi's books -- only Song of the Swallows [for which he received the 1950 Caldecott award] is still in print.".
