Also unique is the extrapolation of data to zero initial de- or extension. The book concludes with the measured temperature coefficients of rigidity and Young's modulus of elasticity at 0° C for 31 alloys and pure metals and the thermal coefficient of expansion for each of those materials. The insights and methods presented in this book remain valuable for scientists and engineers working on elastic elements for instruments and other applications. This fight is of course acknowledged as amongst the greatest fights in the recorded history of the sport and was the second ever heavyweight championship fight, Corbett defeating Sullivan 5 years earlier in New Orleans. It was also the first championship fight ever filmed, in this case by the Edison Picture Company and memorialized not only by Corbetts own "long count" accusation, but also by Fitzsimmons famous Solar Plexus Punch which won the match for him in the 14th round.
