Weak front hinge. Spine is bent inward like the coves were peeled back during reading. Front bottom board corner is bumped. Jacket has some chips along the top edge which have been cleverly camouflaged using brown paper behind the cover and inside the jacket protector. Rumpling to jacket at spine head. Lots of problems, but presents very well on the shelf. For the serious Modern Library collectors out there - Toledano number 057.3, 246 titles on the back dates this to Spring 1937. It has a style 7 binding (blue balloon cloth, gold spine stamp, decorative gold front cover stamp), and a style g dustcover back.

The Text Block of each is clean, cream-colored, tight, straight and square, with faded yellow topstain and deckled fore-edges, and no markings of any kind, except for pencil erasures on the second free endpaper of volume 2. The Bindings are full black cloth, color uniform throughout, with title blind-stamped to front board, faded gilt title, etc., to spines, decorated endpapers unmarked except for prior owner's bookplate on front endpaper of each volume, and all corners square but showing wear at the very tips.
