A Parisian woman who survived Dachau returns to her life in Paris, though she is assumed dead by her husband. Not recognizing her, he asks her to pretend to be his wife and fake her death so he may inherit her fortune. Set in Paris. 10 x 8 inches. Vintage studio still photograph of Laura Antonelli from the US release of the 1972 French film. Provenance stamp on the verso. Best known by the British release title "Scoundrel in White," director Claude Chabrol's "Docteur Popaul" was released in the US nine years after it's 1972 French release under two different titles, "Play Now, Pay Later" and "High Heels." Based on the 1969 novel "Murder at Leisure" by Hubert Monteilhet. Jean-Paul Belmondo stars as inveterate womanizer. After marrying the wealthy but plain Mia Farrow, he seduces her beautiful sister Martine (Antonelli). Shot on location in Gironde and Paris, France and Tunisia. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
