Softcover. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. Another two fine contributions to the Memoires des Litterature et Beaux Arts, published by L'Academie des Inscriptions et Belle-lettres in Paris. Undated, but appears to be circa 1842 originally but here in reprint a decade or two later. Hubert-Pascal Ameilhon (1730 - 1811) was a French historian and librarian, having first worked at the Bibliothèque historique de la ville de Paris and specialized in the history of trade and seafaring in Ptolemaic Egypt and of the Later Roman Empire and early medieval Europe. According to a Wikipedia article about him, he also "produced the first published translation (into Latin and French) of the Greek inscription on the Rosetta Stone," and was credited with saving several hundred thousands volumes of precious arts, sciences and histories during the latter years of the French Revolution. Measures 7 3/4" x 10" in width and height, respectively. These two short communications are disbound from a larger volume, hand-sewn, complete, with slightly waffly text, rag paper is lightly foxed here and there, else clean and unmarked, pp. 537-548; 357-379 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
