A drama in three acts by the artist Jerzy Hulewicz (1886-1941) was a writer, art theorist, painter and graphic artist recognized for his expressionist work. He was the art editor of the journal Zdroj as well as the f…inancial backer. He co-founded the Poznan branch of the Polish Writers Union in 1921 and worked in Warsaw from 1924. During the German occupation he worked in the underground press. His work is particularly iconic for the emergence of Polish modernism after 1915 through the 1920s. Hulewicz designed the woodcut cover, as well as the abstract "Koscianki" (Little Cubes) woodcut laid in on the second title page with the copy number. Worldcat locates two North American institutional holdings (Wayne State, Stanford), two Polish libraries worldwide. This copy with uncut signatures, cover worn with light corner stain, interior nf.
