Hardcover. Condizione: New. Orderbook - wwb Newsletter May 2022 - Hypervenezia: Venice Urban Photo Project / Mario PelitiW034099 | $40.00 / 10% library disc. Exhibition CatalogEd. By Matthieu Humery. Palazzo Grassi, Punta della Dogana, Venice, 2021.464 pp. 400 ills. 19 x 16 cm. Trilingual in English, French and Italian. Hardcove…r. ISBN 9788829711697HYPERVENEZIA, scheduled at Palazzo Grassi, is an exhibition event dedicated to the city of Venice on the occasion of the 1600th anniversary of its foundation, which presents for the first time to the public the "Venice Urban Photo Project", conceived and made by Mario Peliti. The volume, designed by the Sonnoli studio, includes around 400 photographs and narrative contributions by Alain Fleischer and architect Franco Mancuso, as well as an introductory text by curator Matthieu Humery. Mario Peliti has concentrated his work on a daring artistic challenge, not unlike the work of an entomologist or an archaeologist, tirelessly accumulating traces, testimonies, peculiarities and signs of a city that you think you know but which actually has many secrets to be revealed. Despite the numerous transformations that took place in the lagoon city during the last century - so much so that it can be said that its historic center was among the most built up of the twentieth century - so far an organic photographic campaign dedicated to the representation of the entire urban fabric of Venice able to describe its extraordinary complexity and continuity. HYPERVENEZIA has the purpose of filling this void. All cities - and Venice in particular - are now consulted and not seen. Urban simulation, even if of photographic origin, replaces real experience. Nobody knows how to look at the city from life anymore. Hence the need to recover a form of classical representation capable of describing as meticulously as possible such an articulated and so fragile urban context. All the images are made with the same light conditions, without cast shadows, and in the absence of people. The homogeneity of the light makes all the details of the facades visible, even the less relevant ones, and the lack of people forces the observer to reflect on the possible destiny of the city: a city without inhabitants.
