(He was a member of the board of the Hungarian Chess Association, which was re-established in 1921. In the 1930s he was the owner of one of the largest Hungarian chess libraries and an excellent chess editor. Central European representative of the USA Good Companion Society.) On the front endpaper is the label of the Hungarian chess composer Tivadar Kardos. - - A total of 200 problems, most of them are by authors - Dawson (68) and Hundsdorfer (28). - - Thomas Rayner Dawson (1889 - 1951) was an English chess problemist and is acknowledged as "the father of Fairy Chess". He invented many fairy pieces and new conditions. He introduced the popular fairy pieces grasshopper, nightrider, and many other fairy chess ideas. In 1915 he wrote Retrograde Analysis, the first book on the subject, completing the project begun several years earlier by the German composer Wolfgang Hundsdorfer (1879-1951). From 1919 to 1930 Dawson conducted a column devoted to fairy problems in the Chess Amateur, In 1926 he was a co-founder of The Problemist , which he edited for its first six years and he founded and edited The Problemist Fairy Supplement (1931-6) continued as The Fairy Chess Review (1936-51). - - Publisher of the series was chess composer and enthusiast Alain Campbell White (1880-1951). A. C. White sent most books of the series to his friends as Christmas gifts. But they were offered for sale, too. The series consists from 44 books on problem chess and one pamphlet from 1912. Most books are hard covers, bound in red cloth with gold lettering, usually written in English, sometimes in German and French and one was partially in Czech. Most books have printed Christmas wish slip by White, usually bound in after a title page. It appears that a part of edition of some books has wish slips and a part does not. Number of copies published of separate volumes is not known.
