Hardcover full cloth. In fair condition, with light discoloration and bending to boards. Some loss to head and heel of spine. Loss to first preliminary page, along with small hole in adjacent end page. Light markings, along with ex-libris bookplate affixed to front pastedown. Includes frontispiece and tissue guard. Top of title page trimmed to remove former owner's signature. Occasional shakiness and marginalia within text block. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. An extremely scarce piece on the operational history of the CSS Shenandoah, a Confederate ship that seized and disrupted Union vessels, including whaling ships in Alaska in the weeks following the war's end. Following knowledge of the war's end, it traveled for three months to Liverpool, where it surrender on November 6, 1865, being the last Confederate unit to do so.
