Red cloth covers clean but spine ends rubbed and… small dent front outer edge. Main problem however is that front joint has become loose, internal gutter split now cosmetically sealed but the textblock shakiness remains. Nonetheless an excellent reference/working copy of this historically important text providing position statements by leading psychological theorists; notable that psychoanalysis is not included and McDougall's 'Hormic' psychology is grouped with Morton Prince under heading 'Purposive Groups' (McD.'s 2 chaps are called 'Men or Robots' (I, II) (the word robot having been coined only 5 years previously by Czech playwright Capek this was quite trendy of him.) Murchison's name does not actually appear on t.p., but he authored the Preface.

The Spenserians have also suffered eglect in an age which tends to equate oetry with the brief lyric (and which tends to quate the teaching of poetry with the nthology) because their long poems are idisputably their best work. As well as ectifying a literary injustice, his study of the penserians has led the editor to a new literary heory concerning our conceptions and xperiencing of poetry. Dr. Hunter presents one or more long poems from each author plus a selection of his horter works, the whole introduced by the poet himself. The edition includes an accurate irinting of the original texts with full innotation, making the ideas easily accessible o the modern reader. Introductions by rofessor Hunter place each work in its listorical and literary context.
