Hier eines von 15 Exemplaren, bei denen die Lithographien auf Kaiserlichem Japanpapier abgezogen und der Text auf Bütten gedruckt wurde (gesamt 225 Exemplare), das Impressum jedoch nicht numeriert, sondern von Louis Huvey eigenhändig mit vollem Namenszug signiert. Beeindruckende Monographie über den elsässischen Maler Jean-Jacques Henner (1829-1905), deren Abbildungen von Gemälden ungewöhnlicherweise von dem Maler Louis Huvey (1868-1954) als Original-Lithographien nachgeschaffen wurden, Henner feierte große Erfolge beim Pariser Publikum und war von 1863 bis 1903 fast alljährlich in den dortigen Ausstellungen des "Salon" vertreten, wo er mit Ehrenbezeugungen aller Art geradezu überhäuft wurde. Besonders seine am Studium Corregios geschulte Behandlung des Hell-Dunkels und die feine Art, mit der er Landschaft und nackte weibliche Figur zu einer Stimmungsidylle zusammenzuführen wußte, haben ihn in Frankreich zu einem der erfolgreichsten Maler des letzten Drittels des 19. Jahrhunderts gemacht (nach Thieme/Becker XVI, 397f.). Der Umschlag am hinteren Rückengelenk leider fast komplett gerissen sowie mit leichten Gebrauchsspuren, insgesamt handelt es sich jedoch um ein schönes, gut erhaltenes Exemplar. En effet, Henri Focillon, l'un des historiens de l'art français les plus impor…tants du début du XXe siècle, aidait Huvey à trouver des souscripteurs. Le livre intitulé J. J. Henner et son oeuvre avec vingt lithographies de Louis Huvey parut en 1912 chez Engelmann. Huvey souhaite également rendre visite à son correspondant à Saint-Prix, notamment pour voir «un très beau tableau qui n'est pas connu du Maître regretté A. Maignan». [Albert Maignan, mort à Saint-Prix en 1908, est peintre et illustrateur d'histoire]. Peintre de paysage, également graveur et affichiste. Il a été l'élève du peintre académique Gérôme.

Il devient élève de l'École des beaux-arts de Lyon en 1885, puis suit les cours de Jean-Baptiste Poncet et de Jean-Léon Gérôme à Paris. Antoine Taravel, dit Xavier Privas, né à Lyon le 27 septembre 1863 et mort à Paris le 6 février 1927, est un chansonnier, poète, goguettier et compositeur français. Olivier Sainsère, né le 9 septembre 1852 à Bar-le-Duc et mort le 7 septembre 1923 à Paris, est un homme politique de la IIIe République et un amateur d'art, important collectionneur et mécène de nombreux artistes dont Picasso; sa collection a enrichi les musées du Louvre, Carnavalet et d'Orsay.
