8vo. 2 pp. With autograph address. To the Revd. William Brown, granting permission to reprint some tunes from the popular 1861 hymnal "Hymns Ancient and Modern" to which he had contributed: "In reply to your note, I beg to say that you are quite at liberty to print the tunes you mention in case you will kindly insert 'From 'Hymns Anc[ien]t & Mod[ern]' By permission'. The Nicene Creed to which you are good enough to refer is not published. I have some thought of writing a whole Service in G flat and including that in it. I was sorry to be present neither in Hereford nor Birmingham: but circumstances absolutely prevented it [.]". - On mourning paper. A little browned. With traces of old mounting tape on verso.
