The story follows the love of Troilus and Criseyde, two young people from opposite social classes. Troilus is a brave and handsome warrior, but Criseyde is scornful and unimpressed by him. Despite this, their love seems doomed from the start. Criseyde is seduced and then abandoned by Teculus, Troilus' brother, and Troilus is killed in battle. Despite their misfortunes, they continue to pine for each other. The poem concludes with Troilus' death and Criseyde's suicide.; Wood engravings; 8vo; 309 pages.

Gravestones he caved can be seen here at the nearby chapel of St Marys at Capel y fin Chapel at the End of the Road, and on the BBC building in London. Gill also invented Gill Sans Serif typeface.
