Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Berková, Dagmar (illustratore). First Edition First Printing. Originally published in English as "The Magic Fishbone" (alternatively titled "Romance. From the Pen of Miss Alice Rainbird, Aged 7"), this tale first appeared in Dickens' 1868 collection, Holiday Romance. It is considered "a parable, a satirical fairy tale reminding us to not be too quick to rely on magical solutions to life's discomforts" as well as "the most famous riddle mystery of all time."First brought to new life in a Czech edition with the artwork of graphic designer/ illustrator/painter Dagmar Berková (1922-2002), this new German edition by Dr. Ilse Seehase (translated from the Czech by E. Glaserova) retains the Czech artist's lovely watercolor illustrations throughout, with graphical design by Jir Blazek. Hardcover 4to is in Near Fine condition: soft gray cloth over boards stamped with an embossed "D" around a floral & heart design to front, lettered in gilt to spine. Slight discoloration/soiling/sunning to top & bottom edges of both boards; interior is pristine save for a gift inscription in German in blue & green pen dated 1971 to ffep. The unclipped DJ is VG: a few scattered tiny holes, spots, small chips & tears & paper loss to top/bottom edges; nicely protected in new mylar cover free!
