All edges gilt. Patterned endpapers; past owner's personal bookplate on front pastedown; pencil ownership inscription on front free endpaper; tear and slender paper loss at title leaf's bottom gutter corner; some minor foxing and soiling. Mild toning to book's five color plates on unpaged leaves - frontispiece without a guard sheet but with other four retaining theirs (all uncredited but presumably by Walter Paget); twelve full page b/w plates on paged leaves (all but one credited to either "EN" or "E. Nister" but probably still by Paget); other b/w illustrations inset amongst text. A few stress points to binding but overall still firm. An uncommon edition of John Bunyan's classic highpoint of Christian theological and allegorical fiction.
