L'ouvrage constitue une violente attaque contre les excès et l'implication politique de la Compagnie de Jésus à cette époque. Il a été réédité à plusieurs reprises notamment en 1721 1753 et 1824. A scarce and nicely preserved piece, having been translated from the original Latin. By Melchior Inchofer (c. 1854-1864), an Austrian-Hungarian Jesuit and writer best known for his involvement with the trial of Galileo.

Eine vierte Auflage mit italienischer Übersetzung ist 2014 (Ghezzano, Felici Editori) erschienen (ed. Federica Gara).
