Hardcover. Condizione: New. Text in Norwegian and English. Description: 288 pages : color illustrations ; 25 cm. Bispegata 12, popularly called Borgen, was one of Oslo's largest studio and production communities. In the towering railway building at Middelalderparken worked a large number of artists, musicians, craftsmen, designe…rs and architects. For twenty years, Borgen was a vital workplace and an important supplier of content to the cultural field. In 2012, the tenants moved out due to the design of the Follo line, and today the building has been leveled. Workplaces like Borgen are often given little attention, even if what comes out of there reaches many people. In Oslo, large, close-knit work communities are an endangered phenomenon, and the book thematizes how the premises for cultural production are changing. It highlights some of the activity that took place at Borgen and is a contribution to the ongoing debate about the artists' living conditions and working conditions. Through photographs, text contributions and art projects, the book documents various aspects of Borgen and places Borgen in a larger context. What kind of art and music scene was there? What place does cultural production have in the creative city, and what role does production community like this play in an urban development perspective.
