Richard Segal described the building of their renowned collection of art from that genre as 'an addiction that filled my soul with the peace that comes from understanding.' That passion - to preserve and share the realist aesthetic - shines through here. This stunning large-format book showcases more than 100 works of contemporary realism, ranging from oil and acrylic paintings to cast glass and bronze statues. Many of the pieces are accompanied by essays that explore the artist s work and provide various interpretations of the work's overall intention. Among the works featured are Will Cotton's mesmerizing Ice Cream Cavern, portrails like Alex Katz s Amanda, and landscapes such as Malcolm Morley s Pictures from the Azores and Jennifer Bartlett's oddly disquieting At Sands Point #21. The book even includes Damian Loeb's strange, hyper-realistic I m Getting to You (very slowly) and other works that challenge readers to view the world anew." - Publisher. Size: 4to. Collectible.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Stated First American Edition along with Number Line to 1. As you can see from the photos, the black covers are exceptionally clean. The white lettering on the front and spine is very bright. There is very little wear. The edges and corners are in very good shape with just a speck of white showing at the two bottom ones. There are couple of small scuffs at the bottom edge of the spine removing tiny bits of the black color. There's also a small crease on the front side of the spine just off the bottom edge. The book is square and solidly bound from cover to cover. The pages are nicely tight as are the covers. The front cover bows out just a little bit. The interior of the book is in very nice condition. The inside covers and end papers are black. They're all very clean and free of wear. The pages look exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I haven't found any soiling at all. Nor are there any creases or markings or attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. I've had it in a fitted protective cover for as long as I've owned the book. I'm not seeing any tears. The jacket is very clean. There is a very tiny bit of rubbing or scuffing at the bottom edge of the spine, also a tiny spot of the same at the front bottom corner. The flaps are in excellent shape, very clean. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've jacked the price up from the original $39.95 price. From the dust jacket: 'From portraits and nudes, to still life and landscapes, with media ranging from acrylic and oil paintings to cast glass and bronze statues, Contemporary Realism represents twenty-six years of discovery, appreciation, and collecting by a pair of the movement's finest advocates, Richard and Monica Segal.'.
