Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Adeline H. Bolton (illustratore). 1st Edition. This illustrated edition of The Arabian Nights was published specially for Encyclopedia Americana by The John C. Winston Company, featuring sixty illustrations, several in color, by Adeline H. Bolton. Designed as part of the early 20th-century Children's Classics tradition, the volume presents a carefully selected sequence of tales including Ali Baba, Sinbad, Aladdin, and The Enchanted Horse, accompanied by richly decorative plates characteristic of Bolton's refined, storybook style. The book is housed in its original maroon cloth binding with gilt spine decoration and emblem, cleanly stamped and well preserved. Internally, the pages remain bright and fresh, with crisp typography and strong color plates. The binding is firm and square, with no looseness or separation. There is no writing, highlighting, or ownership marking of any kind. Shelfwear is minimal and limited to very light edge rubbing. This is an attractive, well-kept example of a classic illustrated children?s edition, well suited to collectors of early American gift books, Arabian Nights editions, or Adeline H. Bolton's work. Adeline H. Bolton was an American illustrator active during the 1910s-1920s, recognized for her richly detailed, color plate illustrations for children's classics and popular literature. Her work blends decorative Art-Deco-era stylization with narrative clarity, often featuring strong color palettes and dramatic compositions. Bolton illustrated several subscription and gift editions, and her Arabian Nights illustrations are especially admired for their imaginative interpretations of Near Eastern folklore and fantasy themes.
