Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. No Jacket. Vroman, A. C.; Sandham, Henry (illustratore). Reprint. A very well-loved copy of this scarce edition of the author's 19th-century historical romance, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest stories ever written about old California. This edition contains both Volumes I & II in this single volume. The Native-American love story was made into a stage play & motion picture, continuing to enthrall subsequent generations, & the legend of Ramona lives on today in the San Diego County town that bears its name (note: a 18-year-old Raquel Welch played the leading role in the town's production of the Ramona Outdoor Play). Originally published in 1884) & by Little, Brown in 1900, this edition from that same publisher has an Introduction & original photographs by A. C. Vroman on both Frontispieces & 22 black-and-white plates, all with tissue overlays, There are also 26 decorative headings from drawings by famed Canadian illustrator Henry Sandham. Condition is only Fair: decorative tan cloth-covered boards show heavy rubbing to extremities, tearing at both ends of spine, & light soil. Both hinges are cracked, pages show age-appropriate tanning but unmarked. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
