An allegorical fable developed from a story by Iroganachi, which Achebe completely revised and rewrote to reflect the political upheaval of the Nigerian Civil War (Nigerian-Biafran War), incorporating a short, plaintive poem by Okigbo, who died while fighting for the independence of Biafra. Small 4to white paper-covered boards with illustrations of the head of a leopard on front and back; 35 pages. Near fine with light foxing to upper board edges and minor bumps to spine ends and corners. Quite scarce. OCLC records less than 30 copies.
