Dust jacket with colorful illustration on front panel and spine by Irv Docktor; dj rubbed with nicks and several short tears at edges, shallow chipping at spine head with 3cm loss at heel along with chips to adjoining panel corners, light soiling to white rear panel. Salmon cloth spine, green cloth boards. Large "ex-libris" bookplate on front pastedown stating that the book was courtesy of Brown's House of Books and Red Holmes Fast Car Wash of Amarillo, Texas at the Vic Mon Motor Hotel; no other institutional markings present. Light soiling and toning to endpapers; interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. Uncommon first novel by Georgia author who wrote three others: WALK EGYPT (Viking, 1960), I RESIGN YOU, STALLION (Viking, 1965), and GREENBONES (Viking, 1967).
