Re-backed in relatively modern black buckram with gilt stamping; original brown cloth boards with rubbing and staining but reinforced by black buckram corners. Some age toning to replaced front and rear endpapers and flyleaves. Toning/foxing prevalent throughout along with some moisture staining; old ownership inscription in pencil on first original flyleaf; some edge-tears and nicks to leaves. Engraved title page present but usually these books also had a formal text title page - as the latter is not present it seems likely that it was excised when re-bound. Binding is firm. B/w engraved plates opposite the book's primary hand-colored botanical plates which are: "The China Flower" on page 7 (missing tissue guard sheet) [no attributed artist]; "The Heart's Ease" by S.
