In the letter Irwin thanks Lee Saegesser for assistance he provided as NASA archivist. Attached in a photocopy of Saegesser's reply letter, which includes a note written by Saegesser for his own records. James Benson Irwin (1930-1991) was the Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15 and one of the few astronauts to walk on the Moon. Letter has normal mailing folds otherwise in fine condition. Letter states, "Dear Bernice: Enclose is the item which you requested me to sign. Our expenses in sending a photo are $1.50. Now I would like to take a few moments of your time. The Apollo 15 lunar mission in which I participated was a challenge for which I spent many years in preparation. The content is as follows: Dear Mark, I always admired Charles Lindbergh and tried to follow in his footsteps. I loved airplanes and still do. Most unforgetable memory of Apollo 15 was the liftoff because we knew we were on our way! It was a very hard landing on the moon.
