Unusual children's book, "The Story of an Ostrich" - An Allegory and Humorous Satire in Rhyme by Judd Isaacs. 1903 1st edition; The Hand Print Book Folk; Boston. The book is beautifully illustrated throughout by Edmund Nolcini. From the Artist's Announcement: "'The Story of an Ostrich' is so simple in its form that children may read it with pleasure and profit, thereby drawing the simpler moral from the tale." From the Preface: "Whatever other merit may be discovered in this book, the publishers desire to call attention to the fact that, as a whole, it is a production altogether unique in a field of endeavor where something new is being constantly sought, but seldom found." Condition: Some light soiling and small stain spots on the back cover; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are mostly clean with only an occasional light stain/smudge found; no writing or foxing found; the pages at the first half of the book have a tiny tear at the outer edge. Overall the book is in very good condition.
