Le Chevalier Bonnemaison, Membre de la Legion d'Honneur, Directeur de la Restauration des Tableaux du Musee Royal, et Conservateur de la Galerie de son Altesse Royale".Marie Caroline Ferdinande Louise de Bourbon-Sicile, Duchesse de Barry; Daughter of Francis, Duke of Calabria, later King of the two Sicilies; m. Charles Ferdinand Duc de Berry (son of Charles X) in 1816. Mother of Henri Duc de Bordeaux, exiled with the rest of the court in 1830, came back clandestinely in April 1832 in an attempt to place her son on the throne with her as a regent. Arrested and imprisoned in November 1832, freed in 1833 and sent to Palermo; she settled in Austria where she died.She commissioned a series of 250 lithographs reproducing paintings from the collection of the Duc de Berry. The plates were published from 1822, and two volumes binding the plates together were issued in 1824 and 1826.

(Voir Vicaire VII, 42 à 68)] Bien complet deds 36 planches hors-texte, sous serpente (non légendée), contrecollées sur papier de Chine, dont 7 portraits gravés sur acier et la carte coloriée de l'Île de France dressée par Dujour, l'ouvrage compte également environ 400 vignettes et 50 grands sujets gravés sur bois d'après les dessins de MESSONIER, Tony JOHANNOT, Eugène ISABEY, Paul HUET, STEINHELL, etc. BERNARDIN de SAINT-PIERRE (1737-1814) livre avec Paul et Virginie une histoire d'amour tragique entre deux enfants élevés dans le cadre paradisiaque de l'Île de France, (actuelle Île Maurice). Cette édition est illustrée par de grands dessinateurs du livre romantique, et notamment par Tony Johannot. Celui-ci : "l'enfant gâté de l'Ecole Romantique, fidèle du Slaon de Charles Nodier, à la Bibliothèque de l'Arselnal. Ce fut surtout un vignettiste et dans ce genre modeste il montra un talent de premier ordre. Ses charmantes illustrations sont dignes de prendre place à côté des meilleures gravures du XVIIIe siècle. Plus de 150 ouvrages furent illustrés par lui et le nombre des gravures qu'il y créa dépasse 3000. (.). Il débuta au Salon de 1827 avec une gravure et commença à y envoyer des peintures à partir de 1831. Il continua jusqu'à sa mort à prendre part aux Expositions de Paris. To the composer, pianist and educator Pierre Zimmerman (1785-1853), asking for his vote in a competition of the conservatory for the young pianist and composer Eugène Ketterer (1831-70), a student of Antoine François Marmontel and Zimmerman himself. Isabey points to the crucial importance of this final com…petition for Ketterer's future career and his difficult private situation. Although he is not qualified to pronounce on Ketterer's talents as a musician, he follows the "lively" recommendation of his friend, the painter Théodore Chassériau: "Vous savez ce que c'est qu'un concours et vous savez aussi ce que c'est que la dernière année, si ce pauvre jeune homme que je vous recommande ne réussit pas cette fois, sa carrière à venir est bien ébréchée. Il nourrit sa mère avec son talent, et il a déjà manqué deux fois, faute d'une ou deux voix le premier au conservatoire, M. Ketterer, est élève de Marmontel, j'ai entendu de sa musique qui m'a paru pleine d'effet, mais ceci est une question que je ne peux pas juger. Je ne vous demanderais donc pour lui, qu'a mérité égal, votre voix. Ce M. Ketterer est l'ami de Chasseriau et Chasseriau me le recommande si vivement, que c'est avec bien du plaisir que je vous écris ces deux mots, n'oubliez pas ce brave jeune homme, pas plus que votre tout dévoué [.]". - The letter probably dates from 1852, when Ketterer won a premier accessit. Despite his limited success as a student at the conservatory in terms of prizes, Ketterer launched an international career as a performer and composer. This work contains a series of architectural plates representing…facades, plans and sections with indications of measurements, finely drawn and printed in color. Plates are misnumbered and it is unknown the exact number of plates originally included in this first edition. The plates additionally serve as a history of French architecture and design detailing the styles from the sixteenth century to the nineteenth century. Isabey (1821-1895) was a well-known nineteenth century architect trained at the École des beaux-arts in Paris. He was instrumental in the development of plans for a number of the fine mansions of Paris, as well as public buildings such as schools. Leblan (1819-1883), also a prominent French architect and architectural artist of the period, was best known for his plans of the Lille Cathedral.
