Four time Prime Minister, William Ewart Gladstone made the rescuing of fallen women - prostitutes - part of his life's work, although few believed that his interest was entirely innocent. This volume also considers his relationship with other women in his life, including his sister Helen who, addicted laudanum abandoned the family faith and converted to Catholicism, brought him as much frustration as his beautiful and graceful wife, Catherine Glynne, brought him domestic happiness and four daughters.
