Interior page…s in very good condition with no marginalia. Pages are cut somewhat irregularly, probably by the printer, but does not affect the text or plates. Pages have a slightly deckled edge. Contains 7 illustrated plates. This is a series of tales for young people drawn from Mukerji's experiences on a pilgrimmage to the Himalayas, including an encounter with a tiger, a cholera epidemic, a magician, and more. Mukerji won his 1928 Newbery Medal for Gay-Neck, the Story of a Pigeon. He also wrote a number other titles for children, including Kari the Elephant, and also wote for adults, including his memoirs My Brother's Face and Caste and Outcast. Hardcover.
