AEB 79665. ~[Librarium of The Hague offers the largest and finest collection of Egyptological offprint monographs in the rare book market. With the acquisition in recent years of multiple Egyptological libraries (those of Prof. Herman te Velde; Prof. Mathieu Heerma van Voss, Prof. Baudouin van de Walle; Prof. Michel Malaise; Prof. Herman De Meulenaere; Egyptologist Jacobus Visser, and former Trustee of the Egypt Exploration Society, Stewart Dale White), we now hold several thousands of rare offprint monographs which were collected over many years by these scholars. Very limited in number when originally issued and fragile by nature, most are by now practically extinct and the scarce survivors are much sought after. We took upon ourselves to collate, catalogue, and identify each item in accordance with Beinlich-Seeber or Annual Egyptological Bibliography, in the hope that this collection will prove useful for scholars and collectors alike. HARDCOVER, bound in the original publisher's brown full cloth, gilt lettering to cover and spine. In mint condition. Excellent copy. ~ Revised and enlarged edition. Studies in the History of Religions (Supplements to Numen), XL. Edited by M. Heerma van Voss, E. Sharpe, R. Werblowsky. First appeared in 1966 in Münchner Ägyptologische Studien, 9. In 1979, Griffiths wrote to Heerma van Voss: "I have had a stroke of luck with the earliest known representation of Osiris. It has never published before and so I thought it would be nice as the frontispiece of my book." He further asked Heerma van Voss to send the photograph to Brill for inclusion in the book which was still in preparation. Heerma van Voss did just that and the earliest known representation of Osiris has been published in this book a year later. ~ [NOTE:] It should be noted that Brill publishers currently offer this book as a digitalized - laser-printed - reproduction, a so-called print-on-request, while not identifying this as such, but presenting it as a "new" copy from the original edition, which now is over 50 years old. We have examined and compared both editions, and the difference in quality is obvious to the bare eye. Might be of importance for the purists to be aware of this. 008-9. ~ ~ NOTE: TOTAL REDUCTION SALE: THE PRICE OF THIS BOOK IS CURRENTLY REDUCED! ~ ~ (illustratore).…
