Soft cover. Condizione: Good. 2nd Edition. Paperback edition of Cranston's 1949 history of the 17th Century explorer Etienne Brûlé who lived among the Wendat Huron people, later serving as a guide and interpreter for Samuel de Champlain. Copy is in good condition. Minimal wear to the pictorial card wraps. Solid and tight binding. Would be very good save for some rather extensive (albeit neat) highlighting throughout the text. Still, a nicely preserved copy of a rather scarce text.

SYNOPSIS: Within the tragic story of Old Huronia, with its heroic Jesuit missionaries and the bloody wars of extermination between the Hurons and the Iroquois, is set the colourful life of Etienne Brule, a man deserving long-overdue recognition for his amazing achievements as an explorer. He was also a man whose vicious life ultimately brought him the unenviable distinction of being the first and probably the only white man to be eaten at a Canadian cannibal feast. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. C. W. Jefferys (illustratore). Ex-Library.
