Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. How does one engage in the study of strategy? Strategy: Context and Adaptation from Archidamus to Airpower argues that strategy is not just concerned with amassing knowledge; it is also about recognizing our imperfect understanding of the environment and respecting the complex nature of adaptation to the unforeseen or unexpected. In essence, the strongest strategists are those who commit to an education that cultivates a more holistic and adaptive way of thinking. With that thought in mind, the contributors to Strategy, each a current or former professor at the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, widely considered the Department of Defense's premier school of strategy, offer ways of thinking strategically about a variety of subject matters, from classical history to cyber power. Practitioners in the profession of arms, perhaps more than any other profession, must employ critical thinking where the application of power on land, at sea, in the air, and in space and cyberspace are concerned. Strategy examines various sub-disciplines regarding the use of power, and illuminates different approaches to thinking which have implications beyond the implementation of force.

Hardys philosophic thought influenced his interpretation of history. His Napoleon is not an example of failure with historical character but is a graphically imagined projection of an idea.

Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. A "must have" for the nonfiction bookshelf of anyone interested in the role of science fiction in literary history. Per the blurb on its jacket's back, this book was "a first, trail-blazing historical and analytical study of scientific fiction and the utopian and scientific romances that describe a world remade by science." This is the 1947 Argus Books first edition, with publisher's original "$5.00" price on its dust jacket. This 77 year old book and its dust jacket are both in remarkable very good condition. The book's binding is sound and square, with no spine crease. Its covers are unmarked with bright gilt titles on its spine, marred only by bumps on its spine ends, but otherwise unworn. Pages are unmarked and unworn, with just a hint of toning in the top margins. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, has a lightly toned spine, some very light wear on the ends of its spine and flap folds with a tiny chip in the top of its spine and the top of its back flap fold, plus some faint traces of soiling on its white back, but is otherwise bright, whole, unmarked and unworn. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble cushion, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description.
