Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm stereo vinyl record album, Doughboy X4RS-9226 / 1001, very-good-plus vinyl with a few scuffs in a very-good jacket which (though it's been opened) still wears its original shrink-wrap, although with dampstain to bottom lef…t of verso. In 1931 four young musicians who worked for Burrus Mills began playing an early morning radio show on a small radio station located in the Texas Hotel in Fort Worth. W. Lee O'Daniel, general manager of the flour mill, began announcing the program and originating it from the mil itself. The original Doughboys included Bob Wills, fiddle, and Milton Brown, vocals. From the early 1930s to the early 1950s, the Doughboys played a 15-minute program at 12:30 noon, five days a week, over a network of stations that covered Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico. In 1936, the Doughboys traveled to Hollywood to appear with Gene Autry in his first musical cowboy movies for Republic Pictures, "Oh, Susannah" and "The Big Show." Cuts here include "A Fool Such As I," "Tennessee Waggoner," "San Antonio Rose," "When It's Round-Up Time in Heaven," and a Texas medley including "Red River Valley" and "Yellow Rose of Texas." Now reduced from $12.
