This print is part of a series of four, two by Jonckheer, and two by Van Hillegaert. Jacob de Jonckheer (died 1676, Utrecht) was a Dutch painter, etcher and printmaker, active in Venice 1656-1657 and afterwards in Utrecht until 1672. In good condition, margins cropped to or within platemark. A diagonal crease in the top left. With the collector's mark of Pim van Eekelen (Lugt 5101) stamped on the verso. Etching on hand laid paper, sheet size 177 x 136 mm., etching by Jacob de Jonckheer (died 1676), signed in the plate lower right, as plate 2 in a series of 4 similar plates with dogs titled 'Die folge der Hunde'. In very good condition, cropped within platemark. Faint discolouration in the top corners and top middle (from previous attachment to carrier). Otherwise a clean and fresh impression. With the collection mark of Pim van Eekelen on the verso (Lugt 5101). Reference: Hollstein 221: 1 (iii/4 or iv/4).
