VD17 14:018177Z. - Jacob Wilhelm Imhof (1651-1728), Genealoge aus Nürnberg, reiste nach seinem Studium zur weiteren Ausbildung durch Deut…schland nach Frankreich, Italien,Holland und England. In Frankfurt lernte er den lutherischen Reformator Jacob Spener, einen der bedeutendsten Genealogen seiner Zeit, kennen. 1673 kehrte er nach Nürnberg zurück und nahm seine geschichtlichen und genealogischen Arbeiten auf. Zu diesem Zwecke legte er eine grosse Bibliothek von genealogischen und geschichtlichen Werken in fremden Sprachen an unf führte einen regen Briewechsel mit Staatsmännern, Archivaren und Gelehrten. 1684 erschien anonym sein Hauptwerk"Notitia S.
