Mimeograph snipes affixed to the verso of 1 still, and distributor rubber-stamp on the verso of the other. Based on Sartre's 1946 play, "La putain respectueuse," about the murder of a black man on a train. The only witnesses are an American prostitute and a black man. The suspect tries to seduce the prostitute to make her give false testimony that the black man attempted to rape her. She finally gives in to the suspects demands, but the black man, after nearly being lynched, flees to safety in her home. 8 x 10 inches. Light creasing overall, else Near Fine.…

Duncan Hannah was a key figure in the burgeoning New York underground arts scene, befriending Andy Warhol and his superstars, Lou Reed, Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, Salvador Dali, and many others. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, his paintings were exhibited in the influential 1980 Times Square Show alongside work by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and several of his paintings are held in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. An exploration of the Roman criminal underworld, following three thugs as they spend their days committing petty crimes, and their nights with prostitutes. 14 x 11 inches. The third collaboration between director Mauro Bolognini and screenwriter Pasolini (who would of course go on to become a great and arguably better-known filmmaker in his own right), preceded by "Marisa" (1957) and "Giovani mariti" (1958) and followed by "Bell' Antonio" (1960) and "From a Roman Balcony" (1960).
