En 1932-1933, il fut jeune professeur de sciences naturelles au Collège Universitaire de Château-Gontier (actuel Lycée Victor Hugo). ***** Jacques Souriau est un illustrateur et dessinateur de bande dessinée [Jean et Jeanette pour le journal Vaillant - Handjar le Justicier pour L'Intrépide], né le 3 octobre 1886 à Vendôme, décédé le 30 avril 1957. Il a notamment beaucoup travaillé pour les publications Lisette et Pierrot, il était l'illustrateur attitré des Éditions Masson & Cie qui avait entrepris la publication, après la Guerre 1914-1918, d'une nouvelle collection d'auteurs allemands (sans traduction) destinée à l'enseignement de cette langue. Il signait ses illustrations "Jacques". C'était au début (1926) des dessins à la plume, puis par la suite, des silhouettes noires sur fond blanc.
