Text and plates printed on Japan paper. Portfolio with traces of use and slightly soiled, interior with the plates fine. Contains the oeuvre catalogue of the etchings of Jakob Smits. This work was published in 250 numbered copies ( 200 in Dutch ; 50 in French). This is copy XLIV of the French edition.

Verzameling van 43 verschillende afdrukken van de originele platen van etsen van Jakob Smits. Afdrukken op groot papier formaat , minimum 42 x 28 cm papiergrootte. Alle etsen (op 2 na) werden met een overdwarse arcering voor verdere afdrukken onbruikbaar gemaakt. De collectie bestaat uit de nrs. (zie catalogus Wim Pas - Hugo De Jonghe, 1997) 1, 3, 8, 9, 10, 20, 25, 26, 27, 29, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51, 55, 57, 59, 60, 61, 62, 64, 66, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, 75, 78, 82, en 88 (deze laatste niet geärceerd). Vier nrs. (9, 10, 20, en 26) hebben zware waterschade. Zeven andere hebben lichte waterschade (nrs. 35, 38, 42, 44, 70, 73, 74, ). De etsen worden los aangeboden en stammen uit een losbladig album waar ze op kartons waren opgeplakt met scharniertjes. Uit het boek van Wim Pas (zie hierboven) pp. 24 weten we dat de weduwe van Smits 67 platen verkocht in 1947 aan een verzamelaar in de Kempen. In 1953 bracht de verzamelaar de arcering op de platen aan. In 1980 werden de platen individueel verkocht op een veiling te Gent. Deze collectie is vermoedelijk dus afgedrukt door de verzamelaar na 1953. Ets 88 (de rede) behoorde niet bij de transactie en is ook niet geärceerd. In de hier aangeboden collectie duikt ook een klein etsje op (70 x 60 mm) van een meisje die een koe melkt, op de achtergrond een visser. De ets in niet gesigneerd doch helemaal in de stijl van Smits en samen afgedrukt met de hierboven vermelde etsen op hetzelfde papier. Deze ets is niet opgenomen in de oeuvre-catalogus. Prijs voor de collectie.
