Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the complex science of internal ballistics, a field that examines the forces at play within a gun barrel during the firing of a projectile. The author examines the history of gunpowder and its use in artillery, exploring the work of prominent figures like Dr. Hutton and M. Emile Sarrau, whose research, though scattered across various publications, provides valuable insights into the behavior of gunpowder. The book goes beyond a simple description of gunpowder's properties and examines its intricate chemical reactions, exploring the processes of ignition, combustion, and dissociation. It investigates how the form and size of gunpowder grains affect the rate of gas evolution, influencing pressure within the gun barrel. The author analyzes the different types of powder, including nitrate, chlorate, and picrate powders, discussing their strengths and weaknesses. The author also examines how the pressure generated by gunpowder varies with the movement of the projectile, analyzing the relationship between pressure curves, the work done on the projectile, and the form of gunpowder grain. The book presents a comprehensive mathematical analysis of these phenomena, ultimately aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in artillery design. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
