Interior stamps show them to be previously owned by the Phelps Free Library (Phelps MI) , donated by Mr. F. R. Welles of Paris, France. Binding on both books is solid. Pages are unmarked and only a little aged, but half-title pages are wrinkled. Gilt top edge. Red leather covers (three-quarters darker red, over lighter red) with gilt spine titles and designs -- some wear to edges, especially along front hinge of Part II.
