When British politicians discovered that an Irish publisher was distributing these medieval mandates across Munster under the apparent patronage of the Catholic clergy, it triggered a massive crisis in the British Parliament. Anti-Catholic forces used this exact book to argue that Irish Catholics were fundamentally unsafe to emancipate. The public fallout was so severe that Archbishop Troy of Dublin was forced to publicly condemn the notes, strip the book of its episcopal endorsement, and frantically distance the Church from M'Namara's text. There are currently zero copies of this 1818 edition for sale anywhere on the global market, with known examples locked away in institutional strongrooms like Trinity College Dublin and the National Library of Ireland.
