These and later articles were later issued in book form as My Life on the Plains. Also of particular interest is an article titled "Anti-Slavery Men of the South" by the Virginia journalist and Confederate sympathizer Edward A. Pollard. Pollard's pro-South views changed somewhat after the war and here he writes that there was significant if not conflicted opposition to slavery in the southern states before and during the war.
