Aggiungi al carrelloSoftcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Immerse yourself in the timeless wisdom of "Sadi's Gulistan or Flower Garden" through this softcover edition, skillfully translated by James Ross. Published by Marefat Bookseller & Publisher, Shiraz, around 1960, this edition features cream-colored wraps with black print on…the covers and spine, showcasing a sketch of Sadi on the front cover. The original price of 60 Rials is noted on the rear cover. In Good condition, the covers exhibit some creases, but the book remains an engaging exploration of moral and ethical guidance. The square binding, while slightly rusted due to staple binding, maintains its integrity, though it shows some staining at page two and the penultimate page. An organization stamp is marked out on the title page, partially obscuring the words "or, Flower Garden." Despite this, the interior pages are clean and unmarked, albeit lightly tanned. This translation of the Persian work "Gulistan" by the 13th-century poet Sadi comprises stories and poems, each offering insights into different aspects of life, including love, justice, and wisdom. Ross's translation is widely regarded as one of the best English renditions of the Gulistan. The book serves as a classic of Persian literature, delivering moral and ethical teachings that transcend time and culture. For your peace of mind, the book will be carefully packaged for shipment, ensuring protection from the elements. A USPS electronic tracking number will be issued free of charge. If you have additional inquiries or wish to see more pictures of this captivating work, please feel free to contact us. Delve into the rich cultural heritage of Persian literature with "Sadi's Gulistan or Flower Garden.".

Aggiungi al carrello8vo, pp. [4], 475, [1]; recent half tan calf over marbled boards, gilt-lettered direct on gilt-paneled spine; fore-edge of first two leaves very slightly chipped; all else near fine and sound. This is the first volume in the proposed series of English translations of select Persian classics, "chiefly intended for the use of the…students at their colleges." Wikipedia notes that Ab?-Muhammad Muslih al-D?n bin Abdall?h Sh?r?z?, better known by his pen-name Saadi, also known as Saadi of Shiraz, was a major Persian poet and literary figure of the medieval period. He is recognized for the quality of his writings and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts. Saadi is widely recognized as one of the greatest poets of the classical literary tradition, earning him the nickname "Master of Speech" or "The Master" among Persian scholars. The Gulistan, containing stories and personal anecdotes, was completed in 1258. It is "interspersed with a variety of short poems which contain aphorisms, advice, and humorous reflections, demonstrating Saadi's profound awareness of the absurdity of human existence.".
