This volume commences at page 269 as a continuation from content of that bound as Volume 2. This is the remainder of The Animal Kingdom, Section III, Zoology and ends at page 468. Section IV Ethnology (pp.469-500). This is followed by The Vegetable Kingdom: Section V, Botany including Economic Botany (pp.501-686), Section VI, Chrystallography (pp. 687-778), Section VII, Mineralogy (pp. 779-810), Section VIII, Geography (pp. 811-904), Section IX, Geology (pp. 905-966), Section X Applied Geology (pp. 967-1040). Contents are generally clean though some pages have some marks and there is some marginal damage to the frontispiece, creases to front end-papers. The binding is worn but firm. This is an eminently usable copy, although shows signs of age. Interesting insight into science in Victorian times. An exceptionally heavy volume and will require additional postage. 4to.
